Outdoor living: how to create an oasis of well-being with garden furniture

For many people, the garden is a place of retreat from the stresses of everyday life. Whether it's for spending time with family or friends or simply as a place of rest with a good book, in summer your own garden or balcony is one of the focal points of your home. It's no wonder that the garden is also referred to as an oasis of well-being. But to really make it feel like an oasis of well-being, you need the right furnishings. These include not only the right garden decorations but also matching garden furniture.

Tips for choosing the perfect garden furniture

Discover the latest garden furniture trends and find the must-haves for your patio, balcony or garden. Whether you are looking for cosy lounge sets, elegant dining tables with chairs or practical sun loungers, we have a wide selection of garden furniture for every style and taste. For example, if you only have a small balcony, we recommend a furniture set that combines two folding or stacking chairs with a folding table. If you have a larger garden, you can simply choose a garden furniture set with an extendable tabletop for more flexibility. That way, you can easily accommodate 6-8 guests at your garden table if you ever throw a garden party.

What materials are available?

When it comes to garden furniture, there are different materials you can choose from. In addition to hardwoods, rattan and plastics, there is also a wide range of metal garden furniture. Hardwoods such as teak or acacia are weather-resistant and therefore robust and durable materials for your garden furniture. If you like a rustic style, hardwoods are the perfect choice for you. Polyrattan, on the other hand, is particularly popular for modern furnishings and has decisive advantages. It is very flexible, weatherproof and UV-resistant and therefore requires very little maintenance.

The key advantage of plastic furniture is its durability and resistance to weather conditions. In addition, it is particularly easy to care for and clean. Different colours, such as white and anthracite, can be perfectly combined with your existing furniture. If you want to leave your furniture outside in winter, you can opt for furniture with light metal. These are currently very trendy and can be combined with seat cushions to maximise comfort.

How do I care for my garden furniture?

The care and cleaning of your garden furniture depends primarily on the material and how dirty it is. For example, if you have plastic garden furniture, you can remove the coarse dirt with a hand brush and then use a damp cloth. For stubborn dirt, we recommend a plastic cleaner or a mixture of water and washing-up liquid. It is important not to use abrasive cleaners, strong detergents, steel wool or coarse sponges, as these attack the surface and cause unsightly discolouration. Metal frames require less maintenance; a damp cloth or garden hose is usually sufficient.

Hardwoods, such as acacia or teak, require more intensive care. These should be treated with a glaze at least once a year. We recommend that you apply this shortly before storage, as the oil prevents drying out over the winter. If there are already splinters, you should sand the areas down before applying the oil. We also recommend impregnation.
