More safety with new motorbike grips from MOTEA

Motorbike grips are an essential element for the perfect control and balance of your bike. Both the appearance and the performance of your motorbike are significantly influenced by the motorbike grips. The grips are particularly important for safety while riding. For example, if the throttle grip comes loose while riding, you can quickly lose control. This makes it all the more important to fit high-quality grips to your motorbike. Otherwise, the feeling of contact can suffer and safety risks can arise. Wear is completely normal for motorbike grips. Sweat, rain or sun damage the motorbike handlebar grips over time. For safety reasons, you should therefore replace your grips if in doubt. You can easily fit new grips to your motorbike. They are registration-free.

Customise your bike with new grips

The look of a motorbike is becoming increasingly important. Many bikers want a motorbike that matches their lifestyle, preferences and settings. So it's no wonder that standard motorbikes are becoming increasingly rare. Customised bikes are becoming much more popular. Components such as the exhaust, the tank and the lighting are regularly replaced for visual or performance reasons. Motorbike grips are also among the parts that are frequently replaced.

Grips for your motorbike are available in a wide variety of shapes, colours and sizes. You can find numerous different grips in the MOTEA online shop to suit your requirements. In addition to conventional rubber grips, we also offer heated grips for your motorbike, for example. However, you should be particularly careful when fitting heated grips to your motorbike.

What is the best way to change my motorbike grips?

Changing motorbike grips is often more difficult than it sounds at first. The most important thing when removing the old grip is to make sure your motorbike is stable. Use an assembly stand, for example, so that your motorbike stands securely and cannot tip over.

The adhesive from the old grip can often be very stubborn. You should therefore first heat your grip rubber so that it comes off more easily. You can use a hairdryer to do this, for example. You can then pull off the motorbike grip with twisting movements. If this doesn't work, try using a thin screwdriver. The screwdriver should be sprayed with oil. You can then slide it under the handle. You should then be able to remove the motorbike handle.

Once the old motorbike grip has been removed, clean the handlebars thoroughly. Acetone, for example, is suitable for removing the adhesive residue. Once the motorbike handlebars are free of residue, you can apply the adhesive for the new grips. Some grips already have adhesive tape. In this case, you can skip this step. Then slide the new grips over the handlebar ends. It is important that you push them on completely. Also make sure that there are no air bubbles between the grips and the handlebars. Then allow the adhesive to harden.

It is important that you check the throttle grip on your motorbike before your first ride. You should be able to use it without any problems. Sometimes the new throttle grip can rub against the handlebar end and you cannot accelerate properly. In the worst case, an incorrectly fitted throttle grip can pose enormous safety risks.
