Revolutionise tyre changing with a motorbike tyre changer

Changing a motorbike tyre can turn out to be much more difficult than it sounds at first. Many motorcyclists shy away from changing a tyre themselves and prefer to leave such work to a professional workshop. However, in addition to the conventional method of changing tyres with a tyre changer, there is also a much less force-intensive option. For this, you need a motorbike tyre changer, which makes the rather tedious and difficult work much easier.

What do I need to look out for before buying a motorbike tyre changer?

You can find tyre changers from different manufacturers and brands on the market. These often differ in size or colour. Before you decide on a model, however, you should consider the following features.

Supported inch size

The most important feature to look out for when buying a motorbike tyre changer is the inch size. Many devices on the internet have 17 to 21 inches or 15 to 19 inches and can only change road and racing tyres. Supported tyre width

The supported tyre width is also relevant when choosing a motorbike tyre changer. The MD4 variant from ConStands, for example, can be used for tyres with a width of between 20 mm and 240 mm.

How to change tyres with a motorbike tyre changer

First, you need to remove your front or rear wheel. To do this, we recommend securing your motorbike with a ConStands mounting stand to protect your bike in the best possible way. Once you have removed the wheel, it is positioned on the motorbike tyre changer using the 20 mm axle. Once the tyre is properly seated, you need to let the air out. You can then adjust the bead breaker arm to the size of your tyres and use it to push the tyre off the rim. We recommend that you fit our rim protector to the rim to prevent it from being damaged. After you have pushed the tyre off the rim once all the way round, turn it 180 degrees and push it off from the other side.

We recommend that you then sufficiently lubricate the rim edge and the tyre bead on both sides of the wheel with our mounting paste. You should also lubricate the mounting head so that the tyre can be changed more easily. The mounting arm and mounting head are now placed on the axle of the tyre changer. The lower bracket of the mounting head grips under the edge of the rim. To prevent the rim and tyre from slipping during removal, insert a rubberised stopper into the motorbike tyre changer. Then use the tyre lever to pull the upper tyre bead over the mounting head. It is important to work anti-clockwise when doing this. Once the upper part of the tyre is detached from the rim, use the tyre lever to pull the lower tyre bead over the mounting head and separate it from the rim.

When fitting the new tyre, it is important that you lubricate the bead thoroughly with fitting paste again. Then press the tyre over the rim by hand using the tyre lever. Now push the tyre bead under the edge of the rim on one side of the mounting head so that the tyre bead is pulled completely under the edge of the rim during the rotation movement. Now all you have to do is fill with air and your tyre can be mounted on your motorbike again.
