The success story of the GS model series from BMW began in 1980 when BMW Motorrad introduced the R 80 G/S. The GS is the first of its kind in the world. Thanks to its robustness and versatility, it enables superior handling in every situation. In 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1985, the BMW GS won the legendary Paris-Dakar rally and proved its class.

It is the world's first big touring enduro and has now been riding all over the world for 40 years. Whether on roads or off-road, there are no limits to what it can do.

The F 750 GS sets the new standard in the mid-range segment. Thanks to numerous features and innovative new developments, the motorbike is a perfect all-rounder with which you can go on an adventure tour.

Thanks to its water-cooled 2-cylinder 4-stroke engine with four valves per cylinder operated via cam followers, two overhead camshafts and dry sump lubrication, it delivers full power, both on the road and on rough terrain.

In addition, it has an output of 57 kW (77 hp) at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 83 Nm at 6,000 rpm, bringing it to a top speed of just under 190 km/h. Thanks to the regulated 3-way catalytic converter, it has the Euro 5 emission standard. This is due, among other things, to the fuel consumption per 100 km according to WMTC of only 4.2 l and a CO2 emission value according to WMTC of 99 g/km.

The BMW F 850 GS is perfectly suited to any terrain, and its performance gives you just the right thrill. Whether you're riding on- or off-road, the F 850 GS will enable you to ride safely on any surface without any problems.

Like the BMW F 750 GS, the F 850 GS has the same water-cooled 2-cylinder 4-stroke engine. However, this has been optimised slightly so that the F 850 GS has an output of 70 kW (95 hp) at 8,250 rpm and thus a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6,250 rpm.

Despite the increased power, the BMW F 850 GS has a regulated 3-way catalytic converter which also complies with the Euro 5 emissions standard. In addition, the F 850 GS has a top speed of over 200 km/h and has a consumption of only 4.2 l per 100 km according to WTMC and CO2 emissions of 99 g/km like the F 750 GS.

The BMW R 1200 GS is designed for long tours as well as for off-road use. It offers perfect comfort, more dynamics and even more fun.

The BMW R 1200 GS impresses with its air/liquid-cooled two-cylinder, four-stroke boxer engine with two overhead, spur-gear-driven camshafts and a balance shaft. The engine gives the R 1200 GS an output of 92 kW (125 hp) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 125 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

This means that the R 1200 GS can easily reach a top speed of 200 km/h and even more. It has a regulated 3-way catalytic converter, Euro 4 emissions standard and a WMTC consumption of 4.96 l per 100 km.

The R 1250 GS uses the same engine as the R 1200 GS, but with the addition of BMW ShiftCam variable intake camshaft control.

In addition, the R 1250 GS has an output of 100 kW (136 hp) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 143 Nm at 6,250 rpm. This means it easily reaches the 200 km/h top speed and has a fuel consumption per 100 km according to WMTC of 4.75 l and CO2 emissions according to WMTC of 110 g/km.

But these are not all the models in the BMW GS range. The whole series began in 1980 with the BMW R 80 G/S in the south of France, and since that day BMW Motorrad has been setting the standards in this segment. And writes success stories.

A few years later in 1987, BMW Motorrad launched the second generation, called the BMW R 100 GS. With more displacement and more power than its predecessor, the R 80 G/S, the R 100 GS becomes the most powerful and fastest enduro on the market.

Between 1994 and 2003, BMW Motorrad reinvented itself again and again and then launched the BMW R 110 GS in 1994. It is the first Enduro with a four-valve engine. Only five years later, in 1999, BMW Motorrad launched the BMW R 1150 GS, with which they wrote a success story for touring enduros.

In 2000, BMW launches the F 650 GS. Now even beginners can get the typical Enduro feeling. Eight years later, the completely newly developed BMW F 800 GS followed with a liquid-cooled in-line two-cylinder engine and chain drive to the rear wheel.

Between 2004 and 2012 came the BMW R 1200 GS, which has been refined in many details since 2005. For example, as the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. In 2013, an icon becomes even better. The boxer engine heralds a new era for the R 1200 GS. For the first time, BMW Motorrad installs a water-cooled engine in the successful model. In addition, the R 1200 GS gets more horsepower and better performance through increased riding stability and driving precision thanks to the semi-active Dynamic ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) chassis. This allows the rider to choose between five different riding modes.
